the new sagat is truly emotional: the drums are neat and the sounds are warm. tight groovy rhythms travelling within layers of the deepest dark dub without sounding evident or tried. familiar but new. precise funk made of techno frequencies. reverb and delays that bring butter to your ears: melting the earth onto your body. *melt* is a body: it has a rhythmic pattern and synths that pop up like a breathing living organism. *earth* is the landscape: you can visualize it. *organs* is your brain thinking about a better dance world and *body* is what is left to dance in the way old gescom vynils used to.

lokee musiks sophomore release features newcomer afriqua. a 21 year old from virginia, usa and currently based in berlin. this fledgling producer and student of the royal academy of music sparked interest with lokee when they met at one of their famous after hours in london. the title track here is melt & features broken groove with afriquas minimal perspective. electric pulse stabs are at the heart of this rhythm and drive it with a much appreciated space. vocals from sorcha richardson adds an eerie anthemic touch reminiscent of somewhere between the cocteau twins & fever ray

when talking about the music of com truise (one of the many pseudonyms of new jersey designer/musician seth haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so lets get that out of the way. yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. but they’re also remarkably weird--stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. after his well-received cyanide sisters ep, a grip of remixes for artists like twin shadow, neon indian, and, uh, daft punk, and a few floating mp3s, truises first lp, galactic melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.

underground trip vol. 1 is the first vinyl realease by artist carmine cioppa aka sleepover for klebmusic label. on side a it features two nice versions of beatz and pieces. the first one is a very clubby banger that contains classic house vocal samples on a great bassy modern beat. loud! a2 is a hypnotic drumbeat flavored with an old school punchy piano that finds its way into a drop, to chill for a second, and then make everybody jump up and scream when the drums build up to start booming again, for younger crowds. so far, real dancefloor, and we could think it is already enough for this 12inch to be bought right away. but its when we listen to the flip side that we find the real nice surprise: deep in the underground is a wondefully laid track that really reminds us of the 90s club sound of epic labels like bassline and big big trax. on this beautiful classy tune, organ, background samples, bass and rhythm section melt into a very special old fashioned atmosphere that takes us back in time, and the piano solo by sep sarno gives it a great passionate touch. jazzy, groovy, sturdy classic deep house with a very modern finish that will always be a gem. timeless.
